Spring is finally here, and it's the perfect time to refresh your home with new colors, patterns, and textures.
In the past, seasonal decor may have been low on the priority list. With so much going on, it’s hard to get in the spirit, let alone find the time to plan and shop. But today, we are spending much more time at home. The concept of ‘home’ has been redefined as a space that serves us in more ways than one- a place for work, play, rest, relaxation, entertainment, and more. If there was ever a time to refocus and invest in your space, it’s now!
An investment in our space is an investment in our mindset and mood, which can impact so many facets of life!
So, whether you want to create a refreshed and relaxing nook or tackle a full makeover, these seven tips will help you style and refresh your home for the restorative Spring season.
Spring is all about the outdoors, so why not bring some of this inside? Incorporate natural elements such as fresh flowers, potted plants or woven baskets. Of course, nothing says spring like fresh flowers for Spring. (tulips are my favorite). Sometimes, incorporating the beauty of Spring can be as simple as placing fresh flowers in a vase on your dining table, in your living room, or throughout your home. I recently heard that if you drop a penny (before 1981) in the water they won’t droop!
The ‘back to nature’ vibe is trending across varying renovation projects, introducing warmth in spaces either through natural materials, an abundance of textures, or handcrafted surfaces such as stucco. The main takeaways: curves and texture are back.
Creating a serene environment in your home is on the forefront of a lot of people’s minds in 2023. A low maintenance home, particularly for those working from home, is vital to ensure your home remains a place of peace. Neutral colors and rustic tones are a common visual marker for this trend. Combine the serenity trend with some of the other style tips listed here and you are perfectly set for Spring!
Spring is all about bright and bold colors. Simple ways to add pops of color to your home is by using colorful throw pillows, bright curtains, or a colorful area rug. If you want to get more serious about it, try repainting walls of your house in lighter, brighter colors as accents. You’ll be surprised at how one light or bright wall can completely change the look and vibe of a room! Going beyond might include fixtures, cabinets or countertops with pops of color, but these are much more permanent decisions so make sure you are ready to commit!
This may sound a little pricey with inflation these days, but it doesn’t have to be. There’s great deals and beautiful options at stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx and HomeGoods. Once you have your Spring/Summer bedding and your Fall/Winter bedding you can rotate these for years to come and you will never be bored with the look of your bedroom! Bedding can be a great source of inspiration for the season, and set the tone for colors, prints, and aesthetic throughout your home.
Pink undergoes its own renaissance every few years, from Millennial pink to Barbiecore pink- with the iconic movie coming out soon, it’s no surprise pink is trending for 2023. In spaces that call for calm, such as the bedroom or an office, think soft pinks, which have a soothing quality while lending color and energy. If you want to take pink to the next level, consider bright floral accents, throw pillows, vases or sculpture, bedding and artwork with vivid pink that awakens the senses and brings a cheerful light to you and those who enter your home.
One of Spring’s most anticipated trends is boho chic design, described as a style that is all about personality, layering pieces you’ve acquired while traveling, unique art pieces and any other items that mean something to you. This trend is sustainable design since these pieces are often family heirlooms or from resale shops and tag sales. Mixed metallics can fall into this category and are also a hot trend right now, particularly when toned down in darker hues and even matte finishes. Mixing and matching metallics, for example art frames, figurines and lamp bases, feels eclectic and more personal. You can even find some interesting metallics in wall art. Layer these items as accessories or small furnishings in your rooms for a cool, collected look that reflects you.
2020 saw a rise in natural wood, distressed surfaces and other marks of the coastal style – and the trend is carried through to Spring ’23, stronger than ever. This year’s recommendations include thinking in terms of neutral hues, whitewashed finishes and natural elements. Greenery, rattan, reclaimed wood tones, jute, terracotta and linen all fit the latter category. For neutral hues, try greige and different shades of white, which is a light way to introduce a Spring atmosphere. As for whitewashed finishes, wood furniture with a thin coat of white paint will do the trick. It should almost look as though it's been through some wear and tear; a little chip here or scuff there makes for the perfect laid back, coastal aesthetic.

As always, when it comes to at-home style, what’s most important is YOU. Don’t follow a trend because it’s a trend. It’s important to create a home that makes you feel comfortable and happy. This Spring, be you, but bolder, and you won’t regret it!
